Splendid time dining at Joe’s Crab Shack!

A few weeks ago on Sunday afternoon me and my roommate joined a mutual friend for what I expected to be a nice and relaxing meal at a place that all of us had never tried before at Fog Harbor Fish House. Located right at Pier 39 I had some expectations that it would be a good place for us to relax and have lunch at. However, it was not a very pleasant experience. We were seated at 4:05pm and our food did not arrive at our table until 4:45. The manager and server ignored us when my roommate asked why there was such a long wait for our food when other diners there who arrived after us got their food much sooner than we did. My order of the mixed grill (swordfish, salmon, and a shrimp skewer) was mostly just ok nothing great in terms of portion and taste. I disliked how my shrimp skewer had pure burnt charcoal that fully covered the other side that was overturned so I did not notice it at first, and that really made my experience there disappointing.

After we left there not feeling full enough I suggested that we should go to Joe’s Crab Shack to fill up on some overall better seafood. Walking over across the street to Joe’s there was a bit of a wait (10 minutes) but once we were seated our server promptly apologized for our wait and was very courteous and attentive. I had the Lobster Daddy Feast again (one lobster, snow crab legs, corn, and potatoes with Cajun seasoning) and the portion this time was just enormous. I had to take the rest to go because I could not finish everything and there was a lot leftover. My friend ordered the same thing and my roommate had the east coast platter (a huge plate of assorted fried seafood with a scrumptious crabcake). For drinks I tried their watermelon sangria which was very tasty and actually pretty refreshing. My roommate had a corona mangorita drink which I also tried a bit of and liked too. We were there for hours and dining there made up for trying Fog Harbor.
Watermelon Sangria, so yummy and a bit fizzy!
East Coast Platter (fried fish, bacon wrapped cream cheese shrimp, fried onions, french fries, a crabcake, and various tasty  side dipping sauces)
Corona Mangorita!

My afternoon spending quality time in San Francisco started out rocky, but I appreciated the friendly and prompt service I consistently get whenever I visit Joe’s that helped turn my day around.
